PROMPT: You’re writing your autobiography. What’s your opening sentence?

“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times.” – Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities

Well, maybe not…that one is already taken, but it would definitely work for my proposed autobiography!

Due to surviving over twenty years of massive domestic abuse, when I do get around to writing my autobiography, I will be changing the names of all of my family members, as well as my nom de plume, so my ex-abuser cannot try to sue me to libel/slander and/or royalties.

So, that being said, I think the first line/paragraph of my autobiography would be: “Those who supposedly love you the most, are supposed to protect and support you — NOT hurt you the most and leave you wounded to fend for yourself, after they’re done with you. I intend to paint the picture of how my life went from fairytale to horror story, at the hands of a psychopath.
