The DV Walking Wounded

The Mental Health "Breaking Free" Blog: For DV & Sexual Abuse Survivors

About

Why call it the “Walking Wounded”?

The “walking wounded” are those victims of domestic abuse, who have to walk around and keep going for their families and for their own survival, usually unbeknownst to the rest of the world. Mental health specialists have studied victims and survivors of domestic abuse/violence and report that their brains scans look almost identical those in the military who have experienced and survived combat situations. DV victims/survivors hide their pain behind smiles, bruises behind well placed garments and accessories. No one should have to live their lives in constant chaos. NO ONE has the right to bully or control another person!

I added the ‘DV’ for ‘domestic violence,’ to clarify AND to show continued respect to our military veterans and active duty military. I did not want to take away from what they go through, in defense of our country and freedoms!
