So, I LOVE the outdoors…that, AND, I’ve always loved fantasy. When perusing the RoadsideAmerica.com website, that shows obscure places to take road trips to (it’s a MUST visit, for obscure statues/sights/attractions). When I talked about this website find at work, and what things I would like to see, the person I was talking to directed me to a new (in 2019) exhibit at the Bernheim Forest, in Kentucky, near Louisville. What!?! This is only an hour from my home!!!
Danish artist, Thomas Dambo, was invited to build three wooden giant [sculptures]: Mama Loumari, Little Nis, and Little Elina. These giants were constructed to help celebrate the 90th anniversary of the public forest, staying only as long as they’re safe and aesthetically pleasing, reportedly through 2024. Whoa! I’d better go see them! I will probably go and visit when it is warm in the Spring, with all of the trees budding, but they’d be awesome to see in the winter too!
