I just read a statistic that over 70% of Americans have less than $1,000 stashed away for emergencies. That’s incredibly surprising, BUT when you’re a single Mom like myself, barely making it, you tend to have no money left over at the end of your paycheck, but still several days until the next pay period. Saving money, at that point, seems next to impossible. However, with the 52-Week Savings Challenge, it doesn’t have to be!

The instructions to this are simple: there are 52 weeks in one year, so Week 1, you put $1 in a jar or a separate bank account. Week 2 you insert $2, and so on. It does get a little difficult toward the end of the year, with the larger amounts and the holidays. You can start this at anytime, making the larger amounts come during tax time or the summer, when there are less expenses. Just make sure you check off each payment, or mark it out, and stick to it! When the year is up, you’ll have $1,378 saved for emergencies! Go you!!! Doing this every year can really help A LOT!
