This is the Willard Library in Evansville, Indiana. It’s grand as a library, to be fair, as the architecture is gorgeous and it’s full of books. What makes it even more epic is the fact that it is haunted AND had ghost cams, so you can virtually hunt ghosts from the safety of your own home. You heard right. GHOSTS. Need I say more?
The sighting of the Grey Lady was first documented in 1937, by a library custodian. The Grey Lady is speculated to be Louise Carpenter, daughter of Willard Carpenter, the patron of the library itself. However, there are many speculations on whom it could be. Sadly, she was last seen in August 2010; paranormal occurences still continue to happen. The library also regularly hosts formal paranormal investigations and tours too.
If you go to the library’s website here, you can look at one of six cameras at various locations: the stairway, the basement hall, adult services, the main research room, the children’s room, and the children’s story room. You never know where you encounter a spirit!
How does this work? You choose a cam and watch the live feed, anytime, day or night. If you see something, do a screen shot. On Mac, doing a screen shot is COMMAND + SHIFT + 4. With Windows, you can use the Snipping Tool or WINDOWS kay + PRINT SCR. (Note, the refresh rate is better on a laptop or computer than a mobile device). Then you can save the screen shot to your computer and zoom in to see what you “caught.” The best times for activity seems to be in the evening. I personally caught something at 1 AM one night, when I was up with a sick child.
This is SUCH a fun website! I especially love the fact that you can purchase a grey lady t-shirt and all proceeds go to supporting the library, the ghost cams, and all of their activities and initiatives. I WILL be visiting it live one of these days, to screenshot myself on a ghostcam — but probably not until it warms up outside to make the 3 hour journey!
