I had Amazon Prime, so I decided to watch Jennifer Lopez’s “This is Me…Now” short film. It’s not really a film, per se, pretty much a long story with music videos in it. Great songs, interesting message.

I’m assuming Lopez is playing herself, narrating a fictional story to explain her love addiction, as the American public has always SO vocal on her relationships, marriages, etc. One of her relationships in the film is physically abusive, so TRIGGER WARNING there!

If you’ve ever been caught in the constant battle of constantly needing to be in a relationship, to the point of the significant other taking advantage and/or domestically abusing you — THIS story is for you. In this story you see Jen dreaming, going through relationship after relationship, going to her therapist — all the while being watched by the signs of the zodiac, played by famous people you’ll recognize. She finally takes her therapist’s advice and goes to a Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous group, where things start to mentally click for the artist.

Eventally, Jen breaks free and sees how beautiful life can be on her own, as evidenced by the Gene Kelly “Dancing in the Rain” type sequence. Jen has several wonderful songs in this lengthy story. I will probably buy the CD because I really liked, well, all of them really.

A quote that really stood out to me was during the credits, “Loving yourself means never having to say, ‘I’m lonely’.”

Highly recommend, even if you are not a Jennifer Lopez fan. You may be after this! <3
